Selling Crap!

Just when I thought it was safe for me to move beyond this sham of a debate….something always happens to draw me back…….

December of 2012 saw the deaths of 20 children and 6 adults because of a whacko with an assault weapon……..immediately the calls went out from the Left…..control guns….and immediately the screams of gun confiscation went up from the Right……and the NRA went on its massive fear program to turn anything substantive into a fear of total gun confiscation….the government is coming for your guns…..

Let me reiterate something I have been saying for years in response to the crap the NRA and its lackeys are selling….there is no one coming for your goddam guns!  Can you hear me now?

The NRA is selling you a load of crap!  They know and you know it!  And yet you allow these overpaid lobbyists for the firearm industry continue to make your mind up for you……..why?  One question I would like an answer to, please…..just what has happened in reality that leads you to believe the smoldering pile of crap fed you by the NRA?

Now the selling of crap comes from the media……in the beginning they were all over the control thinmg and now they are selling the toothless piece of crap known as ‘background’ checks….watch the news and then think back to the days following Sandy Hook……notice anything?

Back in the 90′s when there was a push for the elimination of assault weapons the NRA tried to oppose it by championing background checks and yet today it is taboo…..why is that?  Personally, I think that the check things is still an NRA issue and by opposing everything including the checks they will get the toothless law they originally wanted……background checks.  Every time you buy into this false argument you are illustrating just how mentally challenged you are…….

As far as the registration of your firearms goes……..something that the NRA and others (too numerous to mention) are still screaming about the government does not need a list of the guns and who owns them……are you fuckers high?

Ever heard about a PD ballistics match?  Where do you think that info comes from when asked?  Now, have you ever bought a gun from a retail outlet?  Ever heard of ATF form #4473?  In case you forgot….it is the form you fill out when purchasing a gun…..it has your name, address, type of gun, serial number and maker….and guess what…it is on file……got the….On File!

How many times must I go over this before it sinks in to the thick skulls?

One more time (for effect)……There is NO one coming for your goddamn guns!

Now we have a couple of senators that have a proposal on background checks and they are being portrayed as the saviors of a gun violence bill…..it is a proposal people…..that does not mean a damn thing, one way or another only that they will talk some more….and we know how that usually goes, huh?

Just in case you have not been watching……

(Newser) – The push for gun control is poised to take one tiny step forward today, as it appears the Senate has the votes to get a debate off the ground. The Hill expects today’s action to set off a weeks-long debate. But despite a bipartisan compromise on background checks, don’t expect smooth sailing:

  • The NRA came out with a statement last night saying it is “unequivocally opposed” to the Safe Communities, Safe Schools Act of 2013, and specifically called out the “misguided ‘compromise’ proposal drafted by Senators Joe Manchin, Pat Toomey, and Chuck Schumer,” reports the Huffington Post.
  • The public is “far ahead” of politicians on gun control, said VP Joe Biden in a Morning Joe appearance today, per Politico. “You saw it in immigration, marriage issues, you’re seeing it now. The public has moved to a different place.”
  • Case in point: 91% of military veterans support background checks, according to a survey by one liberal group, reports Politico. Vets also support banning high-capacity ammunition magazines (61%), and 58% favor banning assault-style weapons.
  • If debate does indeed get off the ground today, it’ll be just the third time “in a generation” that a meaty gun measure has hit the floor, reports the Los Angeles Times. It spoke with Senate officials who say gun rights advocates plan to take a similar tack as last time: Stretch out the debate on amendments, particularly ones that would broaden gun owners’ rights; hope Democrats running next year in conservative states back them; then hope so many of those amendments pass that gun control advocates sour on the bill.

There is more on the new feel of bi-partisanship……the MSM is doing all they can to promote this new found cooperation…..it is a con!

(Newser) – Washington elites are no doubt applauding Joe Manchin and Pat Toomey for attempting to forge a gun control deal. That such tense negotiations are necessary, even though most Americans and at least 51 senators support comprehensive background checks, “isn’t considered particularly distressing or embarrassing,” observes Alex Pareene at Salon. And if it is, the media has a ready villain: extremists, such as that dastardly Rand Paul. Moderate John McCain recently expressed bewilderment about Paul’s tactics, saying, “The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote.”

If that’s true “McCain has a bit of explaining to do,” Pareene argues, because he’s twice helped defeat filibuster reform. Contrary to popular belief, the Senate has always been polarized. What’s changed is the abuse of the silent filibuster, which has made “an already undemocratic body even more undemocratic.” If gun control fails, it won’t be because of Paul’s crew. It’ll be “because people like John McCain have worked quite hard to protect their rights to halt any legislation they please whenever they want for any reason.” Click for Pareene’s full column.

My grandfather had a saying that pretty much covers this whole debate…..’Common sense is like deodorant…..those that need it never use it”……..

We can stop pretending…..nothing of substance will ever be passed……just a pile of crap they sell to the voter.
